Once more, it’s that time of year! the period when cricketing calendars across the Indian subcontinent are overrun with domestic T20 leagues. Now that the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is concluded, Pakistan needs to step up!
On Saturday, February 17, 2024, the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the country’s franchise T20 league, got underway.
On December 13, 2023, the PSL Season 9 player draft was held. Intense bidding wars for elite players were also witnessed. Players like Daniel Sams, Kieron Pollard, and Mohammed Amir drew large salaries from their individual teams.
With six strong teams competing for a single, coveted title, Season 9 of the PSL looks to be another exciting one. As the reigning champions, the Lahore Qalandars were aiming for a third PSL championship going into the season.
The schedule for the forthcoming season has been made public, and on February 17, 2024, the reigning champion Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United will square off.
What is PSL 2024’s format?
PSL 2024 – Pakistan Super League season 9 will include six franchises in total. The season would consist of 34 games in total. Thirty games would make up the group stage, and four knockout matches—including the championship match—would be contested.
In the group stage, each team plays the other five teams twice apiece in a round-robin format. The teams that finished first through fourth in their group would advance to the knockout stages.
The Indian Premier League (IPL)-style system would be used for the knockouts. Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2, Eliminator, and Final were in order of precedence.
What time in India will the matches begin?
The planned time on days when there is only one match is 8:00 pm IST. It would be a slightly different situation on doubleheader matchdays. The double-header matchdays’ day matches will go off at 2:30 pm IST, with the second match set to commence at 8:00 pm IST.
