NEET MDS 2024 Exam Date: Aspirants Demand Exam Postponement – Detailed News

Since the hearing date was set for March 15, the day the MDS admit cards are probably going to be distributed, a number of NEET-MDS applicants have voiced their dissatisfaction and requested an early hearing. The candidates are extremely confused about the hearing—which is scheduled just three days before the exam—and are requesting that the court address the matter sooner.

Many interns claim that COVID-19 caused a 7-9 month training hiatus for interns from different states, and as a result, their internship completion dates were moved up to August. It is unfair, in their opinion, that the authorities have fixed the current exam eligibility standards as March 31.

The Supreme Court has earlier been asked by a number of applicants to reschedule the NEET-MDS 2024 exam date for July. During its hearing on February 21, the Supreme Court directed the Center to make a decision about the NEET-MDS 2024 Exam representation as soon as practicable. Nevertheless, the government continued to be unsure even after the court’s order.

The candidates’ appeal states, “It is clear that counseling has always started after the internship deadline. The deadline for internships for NEET MDS was June 30, 2023, while the anticipated common counseling for NEET PG and NEET MDS was not released until August of that year in 2023. NEET MDS 2024 Exam Date

2018–2019: The petitioners are members of the September 2018 admissions class of the 2018 Bachelor of Dental Surgery program. Results for the first year of university were released in September 2019. Without waiting.

May 2021: Because to COVID, the second-year results, which are typically announced in September 2020, were announced seven months later in May 2021.

June 2022: Due to the delay in the previous year’s results announcement, third-year results are often announced in September 2021 and June 2022.

June 2023: As a result of the previous year’s results announcement delay, the fourth-year results, which are typically announced in September 2022, are announced in June 2023 (with the exception of Kerala in July 2023).

July 2023: Student interns will begin a one-year mandatory rotational internship program.

December 2023: A survey of all the colleges was conducted by the National Medical Council, which discovered that many of the MBBS interns from the 2018 batch would not finish their internship until after June 2024 and would lose a year if the eligibility/cut-off date was set for March 31, 2024.

As a result, the eligibility (cut-off date) for completing the internship had to be extended. The Dental Council of India did not, however, conduct such a survey. The BDS students and the MBBS students are in the exact same position.

January 9, 2024: The National Board of Examination in Medical Science (NBEMS) announced that the test date is 7.7.24 and the eligibility/cutoff date for the NEET-PG 2024 is 15.8.24.

January 20, 2024: Despite being aware that the internship will be finished in June 2024 (Kerala in September 2024) for BDS students, the NBEMS announces the eligibility/cut-off date for concluding the internship as 31.3.24 and the examination date as 18.3.24.

By setting the deadline of March 31, 2024, for eligibility to take the NEET MDS 2024 test, 40% of the interns from the 2018 BDS cohort will not have finished their internship. There will be almost 8,000 students excluded from all across India, including Kerala, Orissa, MP, UP, J&K, AP, and Rajasthan.

For the first three years of the MBBS and BDS programs, the UG course curriculum is similar, and only in the fourth year can the students begin to specialize in different areas of medicine and dentistry.

Following their fourth year, students are required to participate in a one-year rotational internship program, where they gain sufficient clinical experience across multiple specialist departments.

The Covid period was shared by both MBBS and BDS students, who also experienced similar delays in training and annual exams. NEET MDS 2024 Exam Date.

As a result, it is unfair to move the deadline for the 2018 class of MBBS interns from March 31, 2024, to August 15, 2024, only for them and not for the BDS students.

Following the internship, counseling sessions for MBBS and BDS students have always taken place concurrently.

In an exclusive interview with India TV Digital, Dr. Ayesha Nazrin, an intern from the 2018 class of the Government Dental College and Hospital in Mumbai, claimed that little preparation time leaves student interns across the country with a great deal of mental stress and uncertainty.

The student interns’ lack of theoretical and clinical acumen, a critical merit-determining component, prevents them from competing fairly with their counterparts. The only way to give these children the enough time to compete properly is to postpone the exam, the teacher remarked.

“For the simple reason that separate admission is not practical in hospitals where NEET PG and NEET MDS batches complement each other in patient care, the idea of separate counseling for NEET-MDS 2024 cannot hold up. For instance, a multidisciplinary team of doctors is brought in to treat and rehabilitate a patient who has suffered severe facial trauma in a car accident. To get the patient back up, a team effort involving neurosurgeons, anesthesiologists, ENT surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons, prosthodontists, orthodontists, etc. is required.

To ensure that everyone has the best possible medical outcome, they train in unison. It is therefore clear that all of the candidates who take the exam on March 18, 2024, will be idle until the end of the year, when admissions and common counseling with the MBBS counterparts take place. Not to mention the thousands of students who will not be allowed to take the exam in question. It’s unjust in every way to each candidate,” Dr. Nazrin continued.

“It’s alarming how the MoHFW is jeopardising the career growth of thousands of hardworking student interns of the 2018 Covid batch who won’t be eligible until August-September,” expressed worry about the matter from another student intern, Dr. Rishabh Chakraborty. They put us through the same trauma cycle each year. This must be stopped permanently.”
