Given this devout family background, Maharaj Ji started reciting various prayers (Chalisa) at a very early age. When he was in 5th class, he started reading Geeta Press publication, Shri Sukhsagar.

At this young age, he started questioning the purpose of life. He was moved by the thought whether the love of his parents is everlasting and if not, then why should he get entangled in happiness which is temporary?

He questioned the importance of studying in school and acquiring materialistic knowledge and how it would help him realize his goals. To get the answer he started chanting Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram (Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram) and Shri Krishna Govind Hare Murari (Shri Krishna Govind Hare Murari).

By the time he was in 9th class, he was determined to live a spiritual life in search of the path leading to God. He was ready to leave his family for this great cause. He told his mother about his thoughts and decision. At the young age of thirteen, one day at 3 in the morning Maharaj Ji left his home to reveal the truth behind human life.

Life as a Brahmachari and Sannyasa Initiation:

5 Life Lessons from Premanand Maharaj Spiritual Journey – Maharaj ji was given initiation into ethical celibacy. He was named Anand Swaroop Brahmachari and later accepted sannyasa. On accepting the Mahavakya, he was named Swami Anandashram.

Maharaj Ji lived a life of complete renunciation following strict principles of rising above physical consciousness. During this time he accepted only Akasha Vritti (Akasha Vritti) for his survival, which means accepting things provided only by the mercy of God without any personal effort.

As a spiritual seeker, most of his life was spent on the banks of river Ganga as Maharaj Ji never accepted the hierarchical life of the ashram. Soon Ganga became a second mother for him. He roamed around on the ghats of Ganga (Assi-Ghat and others between Haridwar and Varanasi) without caring about hunger, clothes or weather.

Even in severe winter, he never gave up his daily routine of bathing in the Ganges thrice. He would fast without food for many days and his body would tremble with cold but he would remain completely absorbed in the meditation of “Param” (Har Chhana Brahmakar Vritti). Within a few years of his retirement, he received the blessings of Lord Shiva.

First seeds of devotion and arrival in Vrindavan:

5 Life Lessons from Premanand Maharaj Spiritual Journey. Maharaj Ji undoubtedly had the blessings of Lord Shiva, the epitome of wisdom and mercy. However he continued to strive for a higher purpose. One day while meditating under a tree in Banaras, by the grace of Shri Shyamashyam he was attracted towards the glory of Vrindavan.

Later, inspiration from a saint convinced him to participate in Raas Leela, which was being organized by Swami Shri Shriram Sharma. He participated in Raas Leela for a month. In the morning he used to watch the Leela of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and at night the Raas Leela of Sri Shyamashyam. Within a month, he became so fascinated and attracted by these pastimes that he could not even imagine living a life without them.

This one month proved to be the turning point of his life. Later, on the advice of Swami Ji and with the help of a disciple of Shri Narayan Das Bhaktamali (Mamaji of Buxar), Maharaj Ji boarded a train for Mathura, little did he know that Vrindavan would steal his heart forever.

Transformation from Sanyasi to Radhavallabhi Saint:

5 Life Lessons from Premanand Maharaj Spiritual Journey. Maharaj ji reached Vrindavan without any acquaintance. Maharajji’s early daily routine included Vrindavan Parikrama and darshan of Shri Banke Bihari. In the temple of Banke Bihariji, a saint told him that he must also visit Shri Radhavallabh temple.

Maharaj ji used to stand for hours praising Radhavallabh ji. Respected Goswami took notice of this and developed a natural affection for him. One day Pujya Shri Hit Mohitmaral Goswami Ji recited a verse of Shri Radharasudhanidhi but Maharaj Ji, despite being proficient in Sanskrit, was unable to understand its deep meaning.

Then Goswami ji encouraged him to chant the name of Shri Harivansh. Maharaj ji was initially reluctant to do so. However, the next day as he started Vrindavan Parikrama, he found himself chanting the same holy name by the grace of Sri Hita Harivansh Mahaprabhu. Thus, he became convinced of the power of this holy name (Harivansh).

One morning, while doing parikrama, Maharaj Ji was completely mesmerized by a friend singing a shloka…

Keeping aside the rules of Sannyasa, Maharaj Ji spoke to Sakhi and requested her to explain the verse she was singing. She smiled and told him that if he wanted to understand this verse then he would have to become Radhavallabhi.

Maharaj Ji immediately and enthusiastically approached Pujya Shri Hit Mohit Maral Goswami Ji for initiation, and thus proved what Goswami Parikar had already predicted. Maharaj ji was initiated into the Radhavallabh sect with the Sharanagat Mantra. A few days later, at the insistence of Pujya Shri Goswami Ji, Maharaj Ji met his present Sadhguru Dev, one of the most prominent and established saints of Sahachari Bhava – Pujya Shri Hit Gaurangi Sharan Ji Maharaj, who taught him the teachings of Sahachari Bhav and Nityavihar Rasa. Gave initiation. own mantra).

Maharaj Ji remained in the close service of his Sadhguru Dev for 10 years and whatever work was given to him, he served him with complete devotion. Soon, by the grace of his Sadguru Dev and the grace of Sri Vrindavandham, he became completely absorbed in Sahachari Bhava, developing unwavering devotion at the lotus feet of Sri Radha.

Following the footsteps of his Sadhguru Dev, Maharaj Ji lived at a place called Madhukari in Vrindavan. He has immense respect for the Brajvasis and believes that no person can experience “divine love” without eating the food of the Brajvasis.

The immense blessings of his Sadhguru Dev Bhagwan and Sri Vrindavan Dham are evident in every aspect of Maharaj Ji’s life.
